Meet Katie

I'm Katie, a vegan cottage baker, ceramic and textile enthusiast, crafty hearth witch, mother to two wild souls and wife living in our cozy midwest town of Ada, Michigan. Welcome to my creative haven, where we prioritize our play, weave creative rituals into daily life, and are happiest at home making (or baking) something.

The creative expression I love to play in is this beautiful intersection where nature meets our mindful daily rituals… our quiet morning coffee, a family hike, a trip to the farmers market, a slow Sunday brunch. I craft nourishing vegan goods, functional ceramics and nature-inspired textiles that spark joy and elevate these everyday moments, bringing us closer to nature and the ones we love.

For me, the sweet spot in life is where my affinity for baking, crafting, time with loved ones and in nature intertwine. Together these rituals bring a deep sense of grounding and fulfillment to my life. I’m so happy to share the handcrafted goods that come out of this blissful place.

The Bakeshop

Handcrafted from the heart of the woods in Ada, Michigan*, each vegan good is thoughtfully made to inspire joy and elevate the daily rituals of life. I offer my cottage bakery items at the Ada Farmers Market and through porch pickups located in Ada, MI. *In due respect to the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi nations and spirit of the land, I would like to recognize and express my gratitude for the native peoples of past, present and future, for the land we are all fortunate to share here.

The Journal

Sharing simple and delicious recipes and seasonal crafts is a practice close to my heart. Though life as a mom and business owner is busy enough, I really do try to share these crafts as often as I can. You can find them in the Journal, my online scrapbook featuring seasonal eats, treats and handwork projects.

Coming Soon

My mission with Freya Cottage is to serve the whole human with a sanctuary for energetic renewal. In 2025, I’ll be expanding to offer local workshops and an online co-creative community for makers, bakers and creatives alike. In the meantime, I’m thrilled to share my soul-nourishing vegan goods, slow made ceramics and nature-inspired textiles with you.
